The Scene
Hardly a border town burrito stop, Jose & Tony's is a two-faced Mexican restaurant. The first room is picnic tabled where patrons walk up to the counter, scan the menu on the wall and order. Then either sit or take your… Read Full Editorial

My Review by kylej250047835 via Citysearch on 9/18/2014

I'm going to start off by telling you that I do work at Jose & Tony's. And, I'm saddened by all the horrible things said about us. Most of the reviews are older and we definitely changed our service and appearance over the last three…

My Review by davej204904722 via Citysearch on 7/2/2013

Great wings! They have a good variety of flavors to choose from. I also enjoy the buffalo chicken wrap. They have a great wing and margarita special on Mondays. Can't beat it! And the bartender is very friendly.

Dogsh!t might be tastier. For some by MikeM544 via Citysearch on 6/10/2012

Dogsh!t might be tastier. For some reason I recall that this place use to be better. How it continues to keep its doors open is beyond me! If you want to get something to drink, there are much better options around the area. If you…

worst detestable walmart food...... by lennybpunisher via Citysearch on 7/26/2011

i officially have had the worst food ever... jose and tony's more like sweaty disgusting fat body and bug sauce.. are shittin me, mexican food?.. a zagnut bar would be gourmet compared to your styrofoam plates and cheese whiz sauce. i…

What happened to this place? by pghpercussionist via Citysearch on 4/18/2011

This place opened in the late 1960's and was one of the first mexican resturants in the city. I thought it was good back then, either I just didn't know any better back then or it has really gone down hill. It's a shame, the food is way…

Diarrhea on a Plate by foodis4lovers via Citysearch on 5/3/2010

Jose and Tony's is a decent place to grab a beer, just don't eat the food. I paid maybe 7 or 8 bucks only to receive a crusty, dry and burned "enchilada" on a styrofoam plate with plastic silverware. The guys in the kitchen literally…

Are you people cracked out? by scathers4747 via Citysearch on 10/10/2009

I'm sorry.... I hardly EVER give bad reviews... BUT THIS PLACE DOES NOT HAVE AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! I had the WORST tacos EVER here... The wings were the only thing I could stomach! Everything was mushy and overcooked... If you want REAL…

Go to a real mexican restaurant! by steelersfan426 via Citysearch on 6/23/2009

This place is absolutely aweful!! The food is dry and tastes like it was cooked in a microwave! This is no where near authentic mexican food. There are good Mexican Restaurants in Pittsburgh now, expand your horizons!!! Mexico City…

Terrible and the beer couldn't make it better. by willtraveltoeat via Citysearch on 12/5/2008

I try not to read reviews prior to going to a restaurant and I did read some today and tried to stay positive. Unfortunately, those who gave it a poor rating were spot on. I thought I remember the food being good, this being over 10…

Microwaved gringo fare by PlasticSpoon via Citysearch on 11/19/2008

It's been a while since I've been there and for good reason. It's basically gringo fare that isn't really Mexican: you know, the kind that has bland ground beef with the orange cheese, refried beans from a can, and iceberg lettuce that has…

Awful food by amanda243 via Citysearch on 10/4/2008

I actually couldn't believe how bad the food was. I am not that picky, and I wasn't expecting that much since it's just a local bar. But honestly, my burrito was cold and gummy and disgusting. My husband's meal was just as bad.

great mexican food by juliamagnolia via Citysearch on 7/28/2008

They have the best mexican food since the closing of chi-chi's. The california burrito and taco salad are great.

great food for a good price by sueaddams via Citysearch on 6/20/2008

Jose and Tony's is a great neighborhood joint. I have been going there for over 10 years and never had bad food or service. You get quality food for a reasonable price.

Bad service, Bad Food. by jeffcritic via Citysearch on 6/18/2008

I can?t believe that anybody could possibly write a positive review of this place that calls itself a Mexican Restaurant. I saw a review that said ?Fast Mexican Food for the Easily Satisfied?. I am evidently not easily satisfied!!! …

Worst ever. by realz via Citysearch on 6/16/2008

This is the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I paid $6.00 for something I could have got at Taco Bell. Both the chicken and beef were overcooked (and by overcooked I mean sitting on a stove cooking for 12 hours), everything was…

Food is great, service is okay by Jennifer D via Insider Pages on 4/17/2008

The food here was always really good and there is a lot to choose from on the menu. The customer service is OKAY at best, in that I do not think the staff was overly friendly but my food was prepared quickly and was hot and delicious. If…

GREAT WINGS! by kvab2539 via Citysearch on 3/2/2007

Jose and Tony's is a great neighborhood/bar eatery. Most of the entries have been about the mexican food..........which is good too........................but if you haven't tried their wings, you are definitely missing out!!!!!

how did this place get an 8.8? by jen617 via Citysearch on 12/13/2006

When I first moved to Pittsburgh a year and a half ago from Los Angeles, one of my co-workers told me to try Jose and Tony's for some great Mexican food. I went not long after and was bitterly disappointed. I am all for hole-in-the-wall…

GREAT Mexican food! by Judy M via Insider Pages on 11/27/2005

This is a very relaxed atmosphere restaurant. I like the very extensive menu and the willingness of the staff to handle special requests. This is non-chain food at a good price. Very good. They have added a bar. PROS: Excellent food…

Best Margarita in the Burg by mariusone via Citysearch on 5/5/2005

Jose and Tony's is a well known landmark in the Mt Lebanon/Dormont area. The atmosphere, food, and staff are great. The food is more of a Tex Mex and they also have other nonmexican entrees. Off to the bar you go to enjoy a wonderful…
