Since Bethel Bakery opened for business in 1955 in the south hills section of Pittsburgh, generations of patrons have made their way to the shop for the bakery’s signature pastries, cookies, coffeecakes and one-of-a-kind cakes. With a number of years of bakery experience, a stint in the Navy behind him and a small inheritance, Morris Walsh, with characteristic determination, made his dream of owning his own bakery a reality when he and a partner opened for business during the Eisenhower administration. While his business partner left the venture within a few months, Morris soon gained another associate, his future wife, Anna.

When I came to visit this shop, I was amazed with the atmosphere of the place. The time of service is also very well satisfying.

My Review by jessk523302607 via Citysearch on 6/10/2014

I worked at Bethel Bakery for 3 years back when I was in high school. Let me tell you, this bakery is not what people think it is. The doughnuts come in frozen, the pies are shipped in frozen and preassembled...all they do is throw them…

Response to Rachel R by Amanda B via Insider Pages on 2/3/2011

Rachel R: This is about the third time I have seen your review so I decided it was finally time to comment. They print lowercase on cakes meant for children so that the kids can read them, not because they are incapable of writing…

We were referred to Bethel Bakery by the Sheraton Station Square. What a blessing! From 300 miles away and over the phone, Anita and Jackie took care of my order. They were friendly and helpful. Accepted my calls every single time I…

Condescending/Overpriced by bbsucks via Citysearch on 6/8/2010

For some bizarre reason, Bethel people have gotten swept into Bethel Bakery mania. Go out and sample other cakes at wonderful local bakeries. You'll find them way more adaptable to your requests and the quality of the cakes are far…
