As a distinct individual, and hard-working woman, Carole Bruns has built her independent business from nothing. She began by learning many of her skills from a dexterous German Seamstress (her mother), and was then able to refine and enhance her professional sewing and design abilities with a Bachelors degree in Business and Clothing Design at the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she was hired by the prestigious Aveda Institute of Minneapolis to design uniforms for the instructors as well as designing runway pieces for several of the Aveda hair shows. After gaining a highly respectable position with Aveda, the wardrobe department of Paisly Park hired her to create costumes for the musician, Prince. In 1997, Carole moved to Los Angeles, California where she started her own business in custom clothing design for individuals in the area. For several years, she was immersed in the western culture and style of dress. Her design aesthetic is highly influenced by this exclusive sense of living; very modern, inventive, and clean lines come across in her silhouettes, and eclectic, colorful prints contrast simplistic yet lustrous hues.In 2002, Carole Bruns Couture opened in Uptown, Minneapolis where it stands today. Once returning from L.A., some of her first custom clothing jobs include the redesigning of Terry Venturas original wedding dress to renew her vows with Governor Ventura, the Aveda Congress Festival, and many independent clients in the Lowry Hill Neighborhood as well as all over the Twin Cities.
